Pretty in Pick - A Short Vampire Story - Final ActThe hick suddenly scooted his chair back, raking over Qieu’s foot rather harshly. A raw pain shot up his leg and he was hit with a killing mood. However, being the professional that he was, he continued to stand ruler-straight and applied a vacant look to his face. He was so still, so frozen, that he looked like a New York mannequin. “Sorry, bubba,” the hick apologized for the ninth time that evening. “Be careful driving home,” Qieu managed to mock, his calm barely in tack. The stranger eyed him and eased out, “Ah, not driving tonight. Darla and I are taking a romantic stroll under the moonlight before I take her home. Then who knows what the night will bring?” he went on to laugh, popping the mint-flavored toothpick between teeth that looked far too white for a smoker. Thirty minutes later, Qieu finally left the restaurant. The night had been rather long and tiring, the clumsy imbecile he’d waited on making it especially trying. The idiot had left him a twenty-five cent tip at that. He was walking so swiftly, so lost in his thoughts, that he didn’t see the couple until the last minute. Something plunged into his heart, and when he gazed up, he was looking into the face of the clumsy imbecile from the restaurant. “Sorry again, bubba,” he laughed through the light of the golden moon. Qieu grabbed his chest, and the last thing he remembered was seeing the tiny mint-flavored toothpick that had been accidentally lodged into his chest. NAVIGATE SHORT VAMPIRE STORY BY ACT
