Vampire Vaquero, The Vampire & The CowboyA Humorous Vampire Cowboy Story ~ continuedJack told Ladonya, "Maybe we lost him, eh?" The horse pawed the bare earth, then grumbled as he suddenly accused, "It's all yore fault, you know!" Ladonya rolled up her upper lip and turned her attention from him, deciding to give Jack the cold shoulder. Nonetheless, Jack was right. Ladonya had found favor in the black stallion, the mount of the man-thing who was hot on their tails. Ladonya had made a horse of herself, twisting her tail, rolling back her eyes - openly flirting with the black stallion whom the man-thing had called, Daemon. The next thing Jack knew was that the man-thing didn't approve of the encounter. Jack would have sworn that he flew on Daemon before ramming forward, almost clipping Jack and throwing him from his mare. Jack had never been thrown before - by man nor beast, and he like it that way, and was determined that things stay that way. Most other men, even young vibrant men, would have been jostled from their mount, but not Jack. A noise echoed in the distance and Jack made his way off the rock and back up the bank of the river as Ladonya was suddenly no where in sight. The noise in the distance sounded like a horse approaching - perhaps the man-thing and Daemon had caught up with them. Where, oh where, was that damned horse?
