Widow Maker - The city lay shrouded in the distance, looming like a fragile virgin clothed in white. The year was 2785.  Vincent’s keen eyesight cut through the fog, singeing over the towering steel buildings like a guided laser.  He was searching for something lost, something that he would probably never reclaim.  continue

The Haunted House - "Over here, I tell you!  The coffin is over here!"  Mona rolled her eyes up at Frank. Idiot. He was acting if he'd found the secret entrance in the wall rather than her. She had a good mind to turn back and let Frank stand his chances of being sacrificed by the coven of she-male vampires that inhabited the dungeon of the castle. . . . continue

Vampire Short Story -  Oh, My Aching Fang!

ACT I

“Ouch!  Don’t touch it!  Get away from me, you old sawbones!”

“Quit being such a baby,” Monique hissed, her beautiful pale face mere inches from Sandar's.  “Well, it’s settled, dear.  You’re going to need a dentist.”

Sandar gazed at her, one hand capped over his mouth, the pain etched on his middle-aged face.

“If you think that I’m going to a dentist, you’re dead wrong!” he told her, lifting his hand from his mouth to deliver the cutting remark.  Then, “I hated them when I was human, and I’m not going to like them any better now!”

“Dead wrong?  I’d say that I’m dead right,” Monique begged to differ, delivering a tiny pout in the process.

She had always been the levelheaded one; Sandar the hysterical one.  He should have entered the acting field.  He could have put Karloff in the shade.

“Quit whining, you big baby!” she ordered, tired of his song and dance.  This scene had been going on since they had woke up this evening.  Ten hours straight was enough!

Monique collected the phone book as Sandar nursed his fang, picking up a mirror that his lover had placed on the cherrywood nightstand.  He cocked his upper lip and viewed his fang, a dark spot marring its center.

As Monique thumbed through the yellow pages, she chastised, “I told you about eating those cream-filled pies and cakes.  This is what happens.  And if you would have sought professional help when this all started, we wouldn’t be in the boat with a hole as big as Dallas right now!”

“You’re the one bringing home all the goodies, Monique!” Sandar decided to fling out.  “This is just as much your fault as mine.  The opening of the all-night market will be the death of me, yet – gourmet breads, custard-filled pies, cream horns, lady fingers.”  Sandar paused to sigh.

“You should stick to the real thing,” Monique scolded.  “A stable diet of blood is all you should require.  All of this munching can’t be good for your health.”

“Then quit dragging it home!  You know that I can’t resist sugar.”

She sent him a look of reproof and he amended his mood by adding, “Just like I can’t resist you."

Her lips quivered, then she delivered a wide smile.  Sandar considered her beautiful beyond reproof when she smiled like this.  If only he could do something with her chastising moods.

She wasn’t much fun, then.  When she was human, he’d lay odds that she was PMS off the wall!

He asked her with a concerned face, “Do you think it will have to be pulled?”

“I don’t know, darling, but if so, I’ll love you all the same,” she assured, her smile still bright.

“Ah, here’s a Dr. Lotus who accepts evening appointments.  We’ll have our servant contact his office first thing in the morning, k?  Tomorrow evening at this time, your painful fang will be an issue of the past.  Now come here and let me put some more Numb Numb on the little brown spot.”

The dentist’s office was warm and stuffy, Sandar’s constant line of complaints and fears not helping matters.  Monique was desperately trying to keep her calm.

“Monique, what if he points out my fangs?  What if he gets to thinking about our late evening appointment request?  What if he puts two and two together-”

“Shhh,” she told him, delivering a comforting pat onto his knee.  “My biggest concern is if you’ll be able to resist the sucker that he’s going to offer you for being a good boy.”

The Vampire & The Cowboy - He had ridden so far, so long, that Jack's thighs still smelled of smoked leather from the saddle that sat astride his twenty-year old mare, Ladonya.  And the horse wasn't happy about the extended ride.  She had been blowing through her nostrils at him for the last ten minutes, the last gust a gnat's ass from Jack's ear.  continue
