One with so many powers is now powerless to gaze into a simple looking glass.  What does this malaise represent? No turning back? A release from mankind, yet the need for mankind in order to survive?

Widow Maker - The city lay shrouded in the distance, looming like a fragile virgin clothed in white. The year was 2785.  Vincent’s keen eyesight cut through the fog, singeing over the towering steel buildings like a guided laser.  He was searching for something lost, something that he would probably never reclaim.  continue

The Haunted House - "Over here, I tell you!  The coffin is over here!"  Mona rolled her eyes up at Frank. Idiot. He was acting if he'd found the secret entrance in the wall rather than her. She had a good mind to turn back and let Frank stand his chances of being sacrificed by the coven of she-male vampires that inhabited the dungeon of the castle. . . . continue

The Crying Veil - Anna's eyes widened in terror as the wedding veil she had situated on her head was suddenly covered with blood - drops of blood.  She detected crying, pitiful crying as if someone in her head were in agony.... continue

The Monster Bash Halloween Party Planner - How to Plan a Ghoulishly Good Halloween Party!

HOWLING GOOD SPOTS TO HAVE YOUR HALLOWEEN BASH

State Park Or Recreation Area

Be sure to call ahead and check the park’s guidelines. Some limit people per campsite, but generally that pertains to overnight sleeping guests in the same campsite.

Some parks and recreation areas have pavilions or large rooms that you can use – sometimes for free!  Remember to cut the noise in accordance with the park’s rules.

If you are able to hold your bash at a park, there’s nothing like a glittering campfire to put fright into a well-spun ghost tale!  Don’t forget to have everyone hold their flashlight in front of their face.  It’s guaranteed to be a Kodak Moment!

For party food, stock up on Jiffy Pop Popcorn, hot dog or hamburger fixings, beans, chips, dips and canned soda.  Volunteer a skeleton crew to man the grill.  For dessert, bring out some bags of Halloween candy, or pre-bake some ghostly cookies for your guests.

Try to be creative when you are contemplating your containers for your food and drinks.  For instance, the sodas would be extra scary planted in a black caldron filled with crushed ice!  Metal tubs with cobwebs draped around them also make lovely Halloween pieces.

For decorations, dress some yard frogs in witch’s hats and space them around the area.  Hang a giant spider on a worn-out casting net (that’s defined as a beat up fishing net for the girls who never fish).   Drape some Halloween lights around the party area for a festive effect.  Don’t forget to bring your CD player for the eerie Halloween music.

Top off the celebration with an old fashioned hayride!  If you don’t have a buckboard wagon lying around, use a pickup truck.  Scatter the back with hay, give everyone a flashlight, bring along your freaky music and hit the Halloween trail.  October moons are almost always breathtaking.  They tend to be more orange in autumn and seem to hang lower in the horizon.  Your guests will cherish the memories of this enchanted evening!

The Vampire & The Cowboy - He had ridden so far, so long, that Jack's thighs still smelled of smoked leather from the saddle that sat astride his twenty-year old mare, Ladonya.  And the horse wasn't happy about the extended ride.  She had been blowing through her nostrils at him for the last ten minutes, the last gust a gnat's ass from Jack's ear.  continue

The Ethnic Vampire Wars -A thick layer of fog lay captive in the valley below the castle.  It was the Ethnic Vampire Wars.  continue

Fashion Statement - Vampires - Vincent revolved his dark head slightly, moving his eyes mysteriously over the crowd.  They loved him, without a doubt.  His popularity was certainly nothing to scoff about.  But would they love him still, if they knew that he was a vampire?  continue

Pretty In Pick - “Right here – pile it on right cheer,” the hick told Qieu, pointing his half-full fork of spaghetti to his plate.   continue

Goat's Pine al la Mode - Goat lived in a valley that was sparsely clothed with pines, red cedars, and sumac that turned a vivid red each autumn.  As so was the season, for autumn had settled in for a brief visit that soon would welcome winter.   continue

Sweet Tooth, Sweet Fangs - Quinn studied the box of chocolates, finding them irresistible.  continue

Vampire Online - Jewel entered the chatroom, settling in for a relaxing night of frivolous chatter.  The chats were always entertaining, and a pretty brainless way to chill out for the evening. continue

Oh, My Aching Fang! - “Ouch!  Don’t touch it!  Get away from me, you old sawbones!”

“Quit being such a baby,” Monique hissed, her beautiful pale face mere inches from Sandar's.  “Well, it’s settled, dear.  You’re going to need a dentist.” continue

Vampire For Hire - It wasn’t easy, obtaining a decent night job.  In the first place, not many businesses were willing to do interviews for the night slots during the late evening hours, after the sun went down.  Being a vampire, that was the only time when Jase could face the world – during the dark of night, that is.  continue

The Vampire Bat, el Desmodus rotundas - Blood sucking demon? Flying devil? Parasite from hell? Could these cruel descriptions be related to our little winged friend, the Vampire Bat? Yes, I'm afraid so. However, the myths and legends that portray these winged lovelies are highly exaggerated.  continue

Transformation of a Vampire - You see him in the black night, at first an ominous silhouette cloaked by the sheen of a silver moon high overhead.  The unique power of transformation is one of the most alluring talents of a Vampire…

The shadow abruptly transforms from what appeared to be a man, into a wolf then vanishes into the night. For a moment, you believe you have imagined this phenomena but your sixth sense tells you that you've just crossed paths with a Vampire. continue

Sky At Dawn sets the focus on vampires - funny, bumbling vampires. However, take note that a few of our tales measure a 4 on the Spooky Scale.  Other than being a bit scary, all are 'wholesome'.  Well, perhaps that's not the correct word to use.  Let's just say that the language and content is 'nice', not naughty.  Just scary.

However, 99% of our content is humor and on that note, please know that we cannot be responsible for those that laugh themselves to death.
