Widow Maker - The city lay shrouded in the distance, looming like a fragile virgin clothed in white. Mother Minnie & the Vampire Next Door

"Yes," Minnie reflected, delivering a weak squeeze to her friend's cold hand.  "It is better to be free and dead than to be alive and dead," she went on to reflect, Oliver again marveling at her analysis.

She gazed into his face that was cloaked by the shadows of the night and told him, "I wish I were a vampire, Oliver - to be free of Man's rules and the troubles of this life."

"Then so be it," Oliver eased out, leaning over and delivering a bite that was so swift and painless that Minnie felt a sense of bliss as the troubles of life were lifted off her shoulders.

A sudden surge of vitality and strength came coursing through her as she floated a bit into the air and when she lifted her arms to steady herself, her skin was again young and beautiful.

As she tried to absorb the magical moment, Oliver told her, "We must take flight to a new country for come morning, we will be discovered.  It will not be good."

"Yes," Minnie agreed, the sound of her young voice shocking her in the process.  "I-I will leave a note for Sam, telling him I have escaped with my vampire friend.  I do not want him to worry," she justified, Oliver amused by her statement.

"Then make haste, my new love for by the morrow we will be much more than friends....."
