Humorous Vampire Story - Fun Told Story Around a Crackling Campfire Mother Minnie & the Vampire Next Door "Oh mother-" "Perhaps now, Sam, your children might make time to come and visit me? I haven't seen Tasa in about two years now," Minnie blatantly pointed out. "Well, she has been busy with college," Yvonne rushed to defend. Then, "You know Mother Minnie, Sam and I haven't seen her since she saw you, so we do know how much you are missing her." Minnie nodded as she opened the front door, then commented in a dry tone, "Yes, you have much to look forward to in your golden years if the same course follows." "Now Mother Minnie, I hope that you aren't hinting that Sam and I have been lax in caring for you-" "Yvonne, frankly I do not feel that you have ever cared for me," Minnie told her with a smile, her gray eyes magnified behind the thick glasses. "It's been what - six months since you've darkened my door? I'm more of a fly in the ointment than a family member." Sam leaned over and kissed his mother's withered cheek, the word 'Judas' flashing through Minnie's mind as her thoughts continued to whirl. Until now, she had not realized how spoiled and self-centered that her children were. Everything was so clear now - just as she was reaching the last leg of her journey. As with all things in life, she had been a day too late. "Once you consider the situation, you'll feel much better come morning," Sam eased out in a light tone as he and Yvonne stepped into the gathering shadows of the evening, their up-beat attitude infuriating Minnie. "You will have so many new friends - so many activities to keep your thoughts occupied." "Yes, so they will not be focusing on vampires," Minnie mocked. After Sam and Yvonne drove away in the expensive sport's car, Minnie retired to the gardens in back of her house where she wept until there was nothing left. How could she leave all that was dear to her? Her home, her cherished garden, her life - and her dear friend Oliver who lived next door?
