GYPSY TALES BY A FULL MOONThe Sea Gypsy - Act IThere once lived a gypsy that was so fond of the sea that his friends nicknamed him the Sea Gypsy. Hours upon hours, days upon days, weeks upon weeks and months upon months the Sea Gypsy traveled the seas in search of a treasure that most said did not exist - a beautiful mermaid. But not just any mermaid. The Sea Gypsy's mermaid must possess green fins, ruby red lips, blue eyes and blond hair. He vowed that anything less would be tossed back into the sea. On the Sea Gypsy's
thirty-fifth birthday as he was out casting for mermaids, the net
was very full and difficult to reel back into the boat. The
Sea Gypsy stained his strong arms until so much sweat filled the
boat, he feared he might be in danger of sinking. However,
nothing at this point could have made the Sea Gypsy relinquish his
catch in the net. After eight strenuous hours, he was exhausted, but was soon to reap the rewards of his efforts. For when he tugged the casting net one final time, it landed into the boat with a loud thud and a beautiful mermaid came rolling out of the net and did not stop until she reached the opposite side of the boat. The Sea Gypsy was immediately beside her, wrestling her with one arm as she tried to jump ship to return to her home in the sea. "Not so fast, mermaid!" he commanded, his eyes assessing his treasure. To his great disappointment, the mermaid held a head of thick red hair and her fin was as yellow as a sinking sun. Her lips were as pink as coral, and her eyes, as green as emeralds.
