Widow Maker - The city lay shrouded in the distance, looming like a fragile virgin clothed in white. The Haunted House - "Over here, I tell you!  The coffin is over here!"  Mona rolled her eyes up at Frank. Idiot. He was acting if he'd found the secret entrance in the wall rather than her. GYPSY TALES BY A FULL MOON

                The Gypsy King ~ continued

Gypsy King Ferka continued his peaceful walk through the woods, savoring the scents of nature along the way: the smell of the hickory trees light on the wind and the wisps of embers cast off by the campfire back at the gypsy camp.

Gypsy King Ferka suddenly stopped short, concerned by what he didn't hear for the woods had become deathly quiet, only the faint chants of the mandolin baying from the gypsy camp in the distance.  Something was awry.

A haunting howl permeated the still air and Gypsy King Ferka was electrified as a chill ran down his spine.  Wolf - but not your average wolf.....werewolf.  He was acutely familiar with the howl of the werewolf.

Without adieu, Gypsy King Ferka threaded his way back to the gypsy camp taking a different path in an effort to stamp out his scent.  Werewolves possessed keen scents - and keen bites, too.  Fatal bites...  This gypsy king had friends that had been kissed by werewolves, but had never lived to tell the tale.  And Ferka didn't plan on joining his friends just yet!

Ferka's path was suddenly blocked by the shadow of his inward fear and there before him standing hunched on hind legs was the werewolf - slobbering,  growling.....not a sight for sore eyes.

Ferka feared his sudden demise and reached into his pocket, clasping his single treasure on earth.  For a man to hold his heart in his hands was a man who would die a happy man.

The werewolf lunged forward and Ferka held up his hand, shielding the blow that was to follow.  A haunting yelp filled the air and then, a sudden thump.  When Gypsy King Ferka opened his eyes, through the moonlight he saw the werewolf on the ground, his lucky silver coin lodged in its chest.

From this day forward, Ferka obeyed all Codes of Superstition, particularly Gypsy Superstition and never took a walk at night.
