Crystal Ball - Gypsy Tales by a Full Moon
Written by Sky Taylor, Sky at Dawn
A gypsy caravan had been through the area last night leaving behind a fog so thick that one could cut it with a knife. Roland shoved Jessie along, determined to cull through the rubble that the gypsies had left behind. "Never know what you may find in a gypsy heap," he had told Jessie.
Jessie wasn't so sure of Roland's expectations as she glanced at a full moon suspended through the veil of fog. Visions of werewolves danced in her head. It was no secret that the path of a gypsy often crossed with that of a werewolf.
Jessie's attention was snapped back to the present as Roland cried out, "Look what I found! A crystal ball! The idiot gypsies left behind their crystal ball!" He paused from his merriment and snarled his lips at her, relaying in a serious tone, "And you thought this would be a fruitless night. I told you that gypsies often leave behind treasures, didn't I? Jessie, one day you'll accept the fact that I am always right, and you....well, you are always wrong."
She wanted to stick out her tongue at the mighty Roland. At this moment, she wished a bear would eat him. And that so called crystal ball that he was holding looked more like a gumball machine - a cheap one at that to which dime-store plastic stones had been attached.
Roland told her, "Let's see what the crystal ball has in store for us, eh?" He nodded his head towards a flat rock by the rumbling creek and decided, "Over there. Let's set the crystal ball up over there, Jess."
