A Short Ghost Story - Act 1

The incandescent moon hung low over the still sea as Jared sat transfixed, staring at the disturbing mob of lights in the distance.  "A sea ghost?" he asked himself, his thoughts churning whereas the sea was not.  It certainly appeared to be a ghost.

From the moment that he had noticed the lights, the waters had calmed to nothing more than lapping wet whispers.  The air had changed with the movements of the sea, and it currently held the chill of death.

Jared shook his thoughts, deciding it best to head inland.  With a misted moon anchored in the sky, it wasn't a sailor's moon or a sailor's sky.  Not enough visibility, especially considering he was in a small craft.

He took hold of the oars and with a burst of adrenaline, set them into motion only to find that they had taken on a life of their own - rowing intently towards the mysterious light ahead - the light that Jared had been wanting to escape.

Jared frantically fought his course to no avail, finding himself hovering directly below the eerie lights.  When he glanced upward, he was able to make out the shape moving amongst the lights.
